With nothing more than the clothes on his back, Victor ran into the darkness of the night, uncertain of what lay ahead. He walked to the International Bridge as he'd done many times before with his family, this time contemplating the uncertainty of his future. With no money and definitely no cell phone, Victor asked himself the question,"Where do I go from here?" He would have to provide for himself now at the tender age of fourteen.

Born in Eagle Pass, Texas, Victor would go on to change the lives of many people across California and Texas. He would take part in the Chicano Movement for equality, marching and demanding equal access to bilingual education and resources for Chicano and Spanish speaking youth. His story is further proof that where you come from should not determine where you can go.
